Faculty Skill-Building via Case Workshop

SDSB

On Friday, November 14, 2025, the Case Research Unit at the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) hosted a well-attended professional development session titled “Basics of Writing Effective Teaching Cases”, facilitated by Dr. M. Shehryar Shahid.

Leveraging his extensive experience as a case writer and educator, Dr. Shahid walked participants through the essential elements of crafting compelling teaching cases, ranging from sharpening narrative structure to aligning case design with clear learning outcomes. His practical insights provided faculty and doctoral scholars with concrete techniques for enhancing the quality and impact of their teaching materials.

SDSB faculty members and PhD students actively engaged in discussions, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own case-writing challenges. The interactive nature of the session provided participants with actionable direction and renewed confidence in developing high-quality, context-rich cases for classroom use.

The workshop reflects the SDSB’s continued commitment to strengthening pedagogical excellence, investing in faculty skill enhancement, and fostering a vibrant culture of case writing within the School. It forms part of the Case Research Unit’s ongoing efforts to support educators in producing rigorous, relevant, and transformative learning resources.
