Case Roundtable Series: Jazz’s Gambit – Should Data Analytics Stand Alone?
The Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) held a Case Roundtable on Friday, October 24, 2025, featuring the case “Jazz’s Gambit: Should Data Analytics Stand Alone?” authored by Dr. Salma Zaman and Dr. Ussama Yaqub, and chaired by Dr. M. Shakeel Sadiq Jajja.
This case examines how Jazz, a leading telecommunications company in Pakistan, is determining whether to establish a separate entity for its data analytics business. It helps students think about how big companies grow, make tough choices, and balance new opportunities with maintaining their core business strength.
Case Roundtables at SDSB are designed as faculty learning forums where colleagues discuss newly developed cases, explore different teaching angles, and share classroom experiences. These discussions often help authors refine their work before publication and offer valuable feedback to strengthen teaching effectiveness.
The roundtable discussion engaged participants in assessing the advantages and risks of a spin-off, including questions of strategic focus, talent retention, brand leverage, and operational coherence. These sessions continue the spirit of collaborative learning, encouraging participants to reflect on how complex strategic dilemmas can be effectively translated into teaching materials.
The Case Roundtable Series at SDSB serve as a vibrant platform for faculty and scholars to engage in critical dialogue on management cases that reflect contemporary business challenges and strategic decision-making in emerging markets.
