Mr Haseeb, the founder, and CEO of Intek Computer & Management Training Centre was contemplating entering the student sector of the computer training market. Intek specialised in providing interactive hands-on computer training to business executives and offered short courses (3-40 hours) on popular software applications. In Mr Haseeb’s view, the company was at a stage where it had established its credibility amongst the corporate world and could now enter the more lucrative student market. Mr Haseeb intended to enter this market segment by offering a four-month Diploma Plus training package. While planning for the course, Mr Haseeb identified the following issues which would have to be tackled before the course could be started: · Though the target market had been identified as the students appearing for Matric and Intermediate exams, their names and addresses would have to be obtained. · A customised letter had to be developed which would accompany the brochure mailed to these students. · Start of the course was scheduled for May 15, 1997. · Issues such as course outline, exercises, projects, and instructor training had to be addressed before the commencement date. Mr Haseeb realised that the project would be constrained by the availability of resources. After reviewing all the above facts, Mr Haseeb sat down on his computer terminal to develop a plan to execute different tasks to develop the Diploma Plus programme. The target was to meet the deadline, May 15 within the resource constraints.
