DESCRIPTION:

Dr Sohail Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) needs to develop a concise dashboard on the performance of LUMS for the on-going use of its board members. The dashboard needs to be consistent with the LUMS vision and overall strategic direction. LUMS, a private sector, non-profit university, has grown over the thirty years of its existence and made a solid reputation in Pakistan for imparting high quality education. In 2013, the university comprises four schools - each at a different stage of growth and facing different challenges. The case presents unique perspectives of key stakeholders (selected board members, VC and deans of the four schools) on the challenges faced by LUMS, important objectives of LUMS, and what variables might be included in the dashboard in order to evaluate performance. Dr Naqvi has also been advised by a consultant that he could use some framework like Balanced Scorecard or Logic Frameworks as a tool to provide an overall structure to the dashboard variables.
