DESCRIPTION

ABSTRACT:

This technical note examines entrepreneurship in Pakistan through the lived experiences of startup founders operating in conditions of institutional fragility and market uncertainty. Moving beyond dominant narratives of growth and disruption, it highlights how founders confront overlapping psychological strain, funding instability, ethical dilemmas, leadership pressures, and structural constraints. Drawing on in-depth interviews, the note synthesises these challenges with the navigation strategies founders adopt to manage persistent trade-offs between growth and survival, principles and pragmatism, and flexibility and control. By situating these insights within the context of emerging-market entrepreneurial ecosystems, the note offers students a grounded basis for analysing how innovation unfolds through adaptation, endurance, and strategic compromise rather than linear expansion.
