The note is intended to provide background information and necessary terminology regarding key terms in the context of building information modelling (BIM). It also briefly describes its current landscape globally and in Pakistan. It has been written to serve two purposes: develop some familiarity with key terms and provide a basis for the instructor to conduct (if necessary) some discussion regarding the application of building information modelling (BIM) in the construction sector throughout the life-cycle of buildings.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

The note can be provided as supplemental reading in a session in Executive Education or an MBA/ undergraduate class. For example, it can be used as supplemental reading to a case that discusses BIM adoption in Pakistan’s construction sector within a course on managing projects or a course aimed at the construction sector.
