DESCRIPTION:
In the first week of September 1989, Tahir Khan, Assistant Manager MIS, had a meeting with Imran Bukhari, Assistant Manager Corporate Planning, and Altaf Saleem, the Chief Executive at Shakarganj Mills Limited (SML), Jhang, Pakistan. The meeting was held to review the status of MIS at their company. The points discussed included the computer application developed, proposed new applications and their significance, as well as the role that managers in different functional areas needed to play to develop these applications. During the meeting, Tahir suggested buying a larger minicomputer to develop the new applications as the memory on the existing machines would not be enough. Altaf seemed convinced and asked Tahir to give him a written proposal.
