ABSTRACT:
The purpose of the industry note “Primary Energy in Pakistan: The Industry Structure and Pricing Policies†is to provide an introduction to the primary energy supplies in Pakistan. This note covers the industry structure, the main players in the energy industry and pricing policies in the upstream sector. This note is meant to be an introductory note to be handed over to students to understand/refresh their knowledge on the primary energy in Pakistan. This note may or may not be specifically assigned a separate session. If this note is assigned a separate session, this should be at the beginning of a course. The intended class audience for a separate session would be students enrolled in any energy economics/energy management course at the undergrad or graduate level. Students enrolled in such a course would gain insight into the basic market structure of the primary energy in Pakistan. Similarly, this note can also be assigned a separate session for any executive program offered to middle-level managers of any energy company, or to the middle-level managers attending any open enrolment program on the energy sector. This note may also be senior-level executives attending any program on the energy sector in Pakistan. A separate session may not be required for this note for senior-level managers, but this note may be handy in refreshing the basic industry structure.
