DESCRIPTION:

Knitwear in Pakistan is one of the fastest growing sectors within the textile industry. It can be considered a ‘new’ industry compared to the weaving industry which was traditionally the most significant in the country. Knitwear is important to the economy because it converts domestically produced cotton yarn into high value added garments, a good part of which is exported. Exports have grown from US $9.77 million in 1978, to US $425 million in 1992, and this growth is expected to continue.
