DESCRIPTION:
The Pakistani bed linen industry produced and distributed sheets, quilt covers, and pillowcases. The industry had developed in parallel with other ancillary textile industries producing hosiery, ready-made garments, towels, etc., and had experienced tremendous growth in exports. Exports had grown from PKR 203 million in 1980-81, to PKR 1, 610 million in 1985-86, an annual compound growth rate of more than 40% per year. Bed linen was considered to be the fastest-growing export commodity in textiles and by 1986, was second only to ready-made garments in terms of export earnings.
