ABSTRACT:
Abdul Karim, CEO of Falcon Group of Industries (FGI), faces internal communication challenges in his multi-generational family business. While the company has grown successfully, its Strategic Business Units (SBUs), led by young family directors, operate in silos, causing a lack of shared ownership and strategic alignment. To encourage informal, open dialogue, Karim introduces Morning Tea Meetings, hoping to improve communication among the young directors. However, the first meeting exposes deeper issues—generational divides, unclear governance structures, and conflicts over leadership roles. Instead of fostering collaboration, the meeting highlights the young directors’ dissatisfaction with their authority and relationships with senior managers. Karim must now reconsider his approach: should he continue with informal tea meetings, modify them, or implement a structured governance system to address these deep-seated communication challenges?
