ABSTRACT:

Stage 2 of the Public sector procurement process elaborates on initiating the procurement. Procurement process is initiated when end-user raises a procurement requisition. The end-user also needs to describe procurement requirements in appropriate detail (i.e. description of goods, works or services, delivery timelines, etc.). This information is communicated to procuring unit, who select an appropriate procurement method for acquiring the needs. The various steps in this process are as follows: 1. Initiating Procurement by Raising a Requisition for the type of Goods, works or services required 2. Preparing a Description of Requirements for Goods, Works or Services 3. Selecting a Procurement Method and planning the Procurement This section also details the various types of procurement methods that can be employed for procuring different classes of goods works and services. These methods Include petty purchase method, Competitive bidding, Direct Contracting, Negotiated tendering, International Competitive bidding and restricted Competition (Prequalification).
