DESCRIPTION:

In April 1984, the Finance Director of Service Industries Limited, was preparing his recommendations for the coming Board of Directors meeting regarding the progress of the company's computerized stock control system.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1) To provide students with the opportunity to understand and evaluate reports needed for working capital management, specifically stock control. 2) To examine problems associated to with computerizing company activities in an environment where the people providing and using the information are not aware of the benefits of the system. 3) To challenge students to develop their own approaches to designing and implementing a computerized management information system. 4) To evaluate the management decision process in the context of management control issues.
